I love when I have an opportunity to use my infrared filter for some funky black and white photos.

This is along the Jordan Creek Trail, another of the Des Moines Metro's many bicycle trails.

A look at the renovated concession stand at the pool house complex at Camp Dodge.



The last concert of the summer at the Camp Dodge Poolhouse complex featured The Nadas, a popular local band. Looming clouds and the threat of rain kept some people away, but the crowd was larger for this concert. Hopefully the National Guard at Camp Dodge will continue this concert series next summer as well!

Demolition of the old Tifereth Israel Synagogue on Polk Boulevard in Des Moines is almost complete. The main entry staircase and the original main entry towers were the only things left standing when I shot this photo. Sad to see another beautiful old building come down.

Meredith Hall, the home of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Drake University, was completed in 1965. It is one of two buildings in Des Moines designed by the famed architect Mies van der Rohe.

The Iowa National Guard is hosting a series of free public concerts at their newly renovated Camp Dodge Pool Complex this summer. This week the bluegrass band Mr. Baber's Neighbors performed, but the show was cut short because inclement weather.

On Tuesday, July 12 the concert series will wrap up for the year with a performance by The Nadas. Check out the Iowa National Guard's Facebook page for more info:

Car repairs were not the way I planned to spend a hot Saturday morning of Independence Day weekend, but my car is running great again. And it made for a pretty sweet photo-op.

Audience members enjoying the sunny evening before the annual Yankee Doodle Pops concert by the Des Moines Symphony. The concert is held on the front lawn of the Iowa State Capitol Building the weekend before Independence Day.
