Flyover Country: the region of the United States situated between the more heavily-populated East and West Coasts. The part of the country that many Americans only view by air and never actually see in person.
And I'm in the heart of it.
I grew up near two of the largest "real" cities in flyover country: Minneapolis and St. Paul. I went to Architecture school at North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND. When I graduated in Spring 2009 I must have missed my freeway exit in the Twin Cities. I ended up in Des Moines, Iowa, where I work as an Architect.
I've spent my whole life in this landlocked, agrarian, often forgotten region of our country. Flyover Country Architect is my place to share local architecture and history, my photography, and my adventures in the Midwest and beyond.
Maybe this will inspire you to come visit Iowa. If not, just wave at us the next time you fly over.
